Be a Kind Hotel or Charity

Be part of a growing global movement fueled by every day people who love to travel, by charities that dedicate themselves to creating a better place to live, and by hotels and travel properties like yours that believe they have a responsibility to the communities where they do business. We are always on the lookout for the world’s best hotels and unique properties that want to become a force for good for local and global communities.

Kind Traveler is completely different than an online travel agency (OTA), primarily because of the booking process, the manner in which we profile the hotel, and our ability to empower travelers and hotels to make a local and global impact.  In terms of booking, the Kind Traveler development team created unique technology that sends the traveler’s information from Kind Traveler’s site directly to the hotel’s booking engine to complete the transaction. This direct booking provides a significant value for the hotel and traveler, allowing them to communicate directly with each other – before, during and after their stay.

In terms of the hotel profile, Kind Traveler highlights the hotel's designated local charity while giving the traveler an opportunity to give back locally and make a difference to the community they are traveling to. We also tell the hotel story through its ‘Kind Factors’ – the term we use to explain how the hotel is impacting individual wellness, sustainability, and community. This unique way of telling the hotel’s story communicates a commitment to corporate social responsibility, at a time when transparency is expected from today’s travelers and consumers.

Another major distinction between Kind Traveler and other travel booking sites is our desire to educate. According to Tourism Care's Phocuswright study, “three of 10 giving travelers were prompted to volunteer or donate because of something they read, heard, saw or experienced.” Kind Traveler’s blog provides stories that inspire travel while underscoring the importance of giving back, living consciously, and choosing with purpose.

Offering travelers the chance to benefit the local community of which they are visiting, every hotel will have the opportunity to partner with a local charity. Local charities may be suggested on behalf of the hotel, local tourism board or the Kind Traveler community. Local charities must adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Charities must be recognized as a tax-exempt public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and provide official proof of current nonprofit or charitable status. Government agencies, for-profit entities, and nonprofit organizations (NGOs) without nonprofit or charitable status are not eligible to become Kind Traveler nonprofit partners.
  2. International charities that are not registered as 501(c)3 in the United States, must provide proof they are in good standing with its local, state, or federal regulators.
  3. Local charities are invited to Kind Traveler as a community-based decision amongst the local hotel in the host destination of the charity, Kind Traveler, and sometimes the local tourism board.
  4. Charities must address at least one of the United Nations' Global Goals for sustainable development which largely center around preventing poverty and hunger, protecting the planet, reducing inequality, and promoting wellbeing for individuals and animals.
  5. Charities must be considered humane and not fund animal testing or research.
  6. Charities must be within the destination of the host hotel.
  7. Kind Traveler reserves the right to refuse any charity that conflicts with Kind Traveler's core values or ethics.

Please email us for partnership inquiries.

Kind Traveler benefits both local and global charities, giving 100% of donations to its charitable partners. Global or national charities are considered “featured” charities, and must be considered a top-performing charity and have at least a three or four-star rating according to Charity Navigator, a third-party charity rating system. Featured charities must also be considered humane, as rated by Humane Seal, a third party rating system on behalf of the Physicians Committee of Responsible Medicine and have no conflicting ethical values with other charities as represented on the Kind Traveler website. For example, Kind Traveler does not allow charities that support animal testing for research.
